A running pushchair for under £150

Do you struggle to find time to exercise with a little one?

I did, that's why I started running with a buggy.

Buggy running is a great way to get out and about with your little one and fit in movement.

We were recently sent the Hauck Runner to test run and give our honest opinion, so here it is.

Firstly, the price is incredible.

The Runner is a robust and stylish looking pushchair which can handle both road and mixed terrain well thanks to its air tyres and front tyre which can be locked or left unlocked for a 360 degree swivel - perfect to nip into coffee shops with post run.

Some of the other pros;

• Soft, height adjustable handles so you can run in the right position.

• 5 point safety harness which is easy to clip on and off. Suleiman was very happy and comfortable!

• The seat reclines back which means little ones can nap comfortably.

• Spacious basket below for snacks, blankets and anything else you or little one may need on your journeys.

• Folds well and far more compact than I thought it would be.

• Handles mixed terrain incredibly well thanks to its big air filled tyres.

Cons

• I just don’t get on with the break position at the bottom back bar of the pushchair. Just personal preference but I struggle with my size 8 feet to get under it to lift it into unlock.

• I really wish the canopy was a little longer and offered more coverage from wind and sun. It just seems a little too short.

• Air tyres scare me for the likely hood of punctures. Nothing a puncture repair kit couldn’t solve however.

As a summary, if you are looking to get into running with your little one this makes a great low cost option.

It can handle both pavement and trail and my 2 year old was very comfortable in it. It is less easy to manoeuvre with my 4 year old however so I’d say it’s suitable from birth to approx 3 years old.

The pushchair itself is recommended from birth but it isn’t recommended to run with little ones until they are 6 months old and able to support their own head.

I have ran with much more expensive pushchairs and apart from the minor things such as canopy, I really can not believe the price difference.

You can find the Hauck runner online for approx £150 - if you run only once a week for the next year, it works out at £3 a run!

Well worth it in my opinion.
