We recently returned back from a camping trip where I had to sit out swimming because I was on my period. I have always found tampons unbearable which means swimming when I am on my period is impossible.
About a week after returning from our trip, upset that I would possibly miss out on swimming on many other holidays with our boys if I my period fell over another trip, I discovered WUKA have created period swimwear.
I have been using their period pants since the birth of my second son. They served a great comfort during the early post partum days and when my period returned after a very long time (growing and birthing two babies in two years and breastfeeding meant I hadn't had a period in nearly 4 years)
I jumped on the chance to try them out, convinced that they would be too good to be true.
Will they absorb the pool/sea water?
What if I have a gush as I exit the water?
Will they rub or be uncomfortable?
Will they be bulky and unflattering?
Just some of the concerns I had that all were washed away after my first swim in the scoop back swimsuit.
Let's start with the material, I was expecting it to be made from a stiff material which I usually

associate with sport swimsuits but this material is buttery soft and even after swimming and then cycling back home in the swimsuit, the lining didn't rub or become uncomfortable.
The material is waterproof and dries really quickly but I did find it stayed a little damper around the intimate area. It didn't leak or drip but it was noticeably damper for longer than the rest of the suit.
I swam on a moderate flow day and just like with the period pants, I would avoid wearing on a heavy flow day just in case.
Despite having the absorbent inner layer, the intimate area isn't bulky or obvious. There is smooth stitching that is discrete whilst still being able to hold three tampons worth or 2 day pads.
I am amazed at how amazing the swimsuit is but my only wish would be some lining in the chest area. I have a small bust so I don't need too much but if you are bigger breasted I think you'd need a little more support.
AD - but my opinions are all my own.
